Another new record has been added to the account of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has won many records in a long political journey. With the completion of 4078 days of the tenure as Prime Minister on Friday, 25 July, he has surpassed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and became the second Prime Minister of the longest India.
Narendra Modi was born first Prime Minister after 1947
Along with this, he has led the government for 24 consecutive years, including the state and the center, which is a record among all the Prime Ministers. Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister to live longer from the non-Hindi speaking state born after 1947.
Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s record broke
The figure here is noteworthy that Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister for 4077 days in a row from 24 January 1966 to 24 March 1977. While Modi is completing 4078 days of his tenure on 25 July 2025.
This is another milestone in the achievement of PM Modi as the longest tenure of the democratically elected government in the state or center.
Non-Congress Prime Minister holding the longest post
His tenure as Prime Minister also includes some other interesting facts. For example, he is the first and the only Prime Minister who was born after India’s independence. He is the longest non-Congress Prime Minister who holds the last post.
PM Modi is the only leader among all the Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers of India who has won six consecutive elections as the leader of a party. He has won the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019 and 2024 after the Gujarat assembly elections in 2002, 2007 and 2012.
Now only Jawaharlal Nehru ahead of PM Modi
It is also worth mentioning here that Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of the country, is at the top in terms of being PM for the most consecutive days. He held this position from 15 August 1947 to 27 May 1964 i.e. for a total of 6126 days in a total of 6126 days. PM Modi needs a 2048 -day tenure to equal this record.
