Nani teams up with ’96’ director Prem Kumar? Rukmini Vasanth also linked to the project

Actor Nani is reportedly set to collaborate with filmmaker C. Prem Kumar, the director known for the critically acclaimed films ’96’ and ‘Meiyazhagan’. Actress Rukmini Vasanth is also said to be part of the upcoming project, although an official announcement is still awaited.

The reported collaboration has generated interest among fans, particularly because Nani has previously spoken highly of Prem Kumar’s filmmaking. The actor has repeatedly praised ‘Meiyazhagan’, describing it as one of his favourite films of the decade.

While details about the proposed project remain under wraps, reports suggest that it could be an emotional entertainer with a romantic element and a strong emphasis on human relationships. The film’s reported theme also appears to align with Nani’s recent comments about wanting to explore a gentle, emotionally engaging story in his upcoming work.

Prem Kumar, whose films are known for their sensitive treatment of relationships, could offer Nani an opportunity to explore a different storytelling style. However, the genre and plot of their reported collaboration have not yet been officially confirmed.

Nani is currently associated with ‘The Paradise’, directed by Srikanth Odela. The film, which arrived in theatres in late September, has received largely unfavourable reactions from critics and sections of the audience. According to Sacnilk, its worldwide box-office collection had reached approximately ₹171 crore after 19 days in theatres.

The actor’s other upcoming project is ‘Bloody Romeo’, which will be directed by Sujeeth. A video circulating online recently offered a glimpse of Nani’s new appearance for the film, showing a noticeable departure from the braided hairstyle he sported in ‘The Paradise’.

Meanwhile, Rukmini Vasanth is preparing to enter Malayalam cinema with ‘NP 51’, starring Nivin Pauly and directed by Nashid Famy. Prem Kumar, meanwhile, reportedly has another project in the pipeline featuring Fahadh Faasil and Sshivada.

With Nani and Prem Kumar potentially joining forces, the project could become an interesting addition to the actor’s upcoming filmography. An official announcement is expected to clarify the cast, storyline and production schedule.
