Mumbai: On Sunday, there was a massive explosion in an explosive manufacturing unit in Nagpur, Maharashtra. 17 people died and many were seriously injured in this accident. This accident happened in the morning. This incident happened in SBL company located in Rawalgaon area of Katol tehsil. According to reports, this factory works to make detonators and explosives. Local media reported that the explosion was so powerful that its vibration was felt even in the surrounding areas.
The injured have been admitted to Orange City Hospital in Nagpur. Those whose condition was more serious were shifted to a nearby government hospital for emergency treatment. Immediately after the incident, district and police officials reached the spot. Fire brigade teams were also deployed to handle the situation. Rescue operations are underway and officials have surrounded the entire area.
Company representatives told news agency PTI that the blast occurred in the detonator packing unit between 7 and 7:15 in the morning. He said that many injured workers were immediately admitted to a hospital in Nagpur for treatment. A company official said that a detailed statement will be issued soon after taking stock of the damage and investigating the cause of the incident. Officials say that the real reason for the blast has not been known yet. An investigation has also been started into how the blast occurred and whether safety protocols were being followed in the factory.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have also reached the spot. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, “The blast in an explosive factory in Ravalgaon in Nagpur district is extremely unfortunate and sad. I pay my heartfelt tribute to the deceased. We join in the grief of their families. 18 people have been injured in this incident. The injured have been immediately sent to Nagpur. I pray to God for their speedy recovery.” The Chief Minister also said that orders have been given for a complete investigation into this incident.
