Myanmar Military Air Strike: Myanmar’s army has launched an aerial attack on the school in its own country. Around midnight on Friday, the high school located in the town of Rakhine State was attacked. Two bombs of 500 pounds (226.79kg) were dropped from a fighter aircraft here. Due to this, at least 19 students were killed and 22 others were injured.
Bomb dropped on private high schools
According to the AFP report, there are fierce clashes between the Army and Ethnic Armed Group Arakan Army (AA) in Kyaukt. AA’s statement has been issued that two private high schools were attacked. This killed 19 students between the ages of 15 to 21 years. AA said, “We are sad like the families of the victims on the death of innocent students.”
Local media outlet Myanmar Now said that a military aircraft dropped two bombs on the school while the students were sleeping. There is no response from Myanmar’s army about this incident yet.
United Nations condemned the attack
UNICEF has strongly condemned the attack. It is described as “cruel attack” on children. “This further increases the trend of growing devastating violence in Rakhine province, which children and families have to pay the final price,” UNICEF said in a statement.
