One of Mustafizur Rahman’s teammates from his BPL side, Rangpur Riders, Nurul Hasan Sohan, has lauded the Bangladesh paceman for his calm and composed attitude despite an inner turmoil and disappointment following the KKR IPL snub.
The Indo-Bangladesh political tensions, the religious intolerance in the nation of Bangladesh, and the anti-Bangladesh campaign in India have altogether affected the game of cricket. In the past few years, India’s geopolitical issues have largely impacted the sport.
As a result of this major altercation between the two nations, the BCCI ordered the removal of Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladesh pacer who was included in the KKR camp after an INR 9.2 crore bid in the mini-auction. Following the removal, the BCB has strongly condemned the steps taken by the Indian board to soothe political outrage in the nation.
Mustafizur Rahman continues promising run in BPL
Ahead of the mini-auction, Mustafizur Rahman was in Abu Dhabi playing for the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 2025-26. He played 8 matches for the franchise and picked 15 wickets with a promising average and an economy of 8.08.
Witnessing his promising form, KKR bought him for a whopping price after an intense bidding war with the Chennai Super Kings. Rahman had formerly played in the IPL, picking 65 wickets in 60 appearances.
In the last game against the Dhaka Capitals, Mustafizur Rahman’s stunning last-over spell helped the Riders win the match by just 5 runs. Mustafizur finished 1/23 from his four overs in Sylhet. He started the BPL on a strong note with 2/19 against Chattogram, and then his form continued, and he has managed to pick up 7 wickets in 4 matches this BPL.
Teammate drops key update on Mustafizur Rahman after IPL snub
Mustafizur Rahman’s teammate at the Rangpur Riders, Nurul Hasan Sohan, has provided an update on the cricketer’s mental state, claiming that he has not been largely affected by the snub, but a hint of disappointment is obvious after missing out on a massive opportunity.
“For us, Mustafiz is a world-class bowler. He has been proving that for a long time. Everyone has confidence in him. There is nothing more to say about him; everyone is always impressed,” said Sohan in the post-match conference.
He added that the seamer seems relaxed, but obviously, there is a bit of disappointment, since he deserved what he has now. But that has in no way affected his focus, and he is doing just fine.
“Mustafiz might feel bad. He always dreams of giving his best for Bangladesh. To me, it seems he is calm,” Sohan concluded.
ICC forced to revise schedule after BCB’s ultimatum for T20 World Cup
The BCB has informed the ICC of their decision not to travel to India for the ICC T20 World Cup under any circumstances. They have asked for a shift of their match venues to Sri Lanka, much like Pakistan.
Following the ultimatum, the ICC has been forced to consider the proposal, and according to a report by the Indian Express, they are drafting a revised schedule that aims at accommodating Bangladesh’s matches in Sri Lanka on the same dates.
Under the initial schedule, Bangladesh were scheduled to play three of their four group stage games at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and their last group stage fixture in Mumbai. However, the recent announcements have left ICC and the BCCI in a soup.
