After joining Vishal Bharat Sansthan three years ago, Naushad started adding Dubey surname in front of his name. Last year, he had used the same surname on the wedding card also, after which he came into limelight.
It is written on the banquet card that you all are invited to the auspicious occasion of marriage and banquet of Khalid Dubey, the eighth generation descendant of the landlord of Shri Lal Bahadur Dubey of 1669 AD. Naushad Ahmed Dubey told that during detailed research about his ancestors, he came to know that his ancestor Lal Bahadur Dubey was a resident of Rani Ki Sarai area of Azamgarh district. Later, after coming here, he converted to religion and took over the zamindari in the name of Lal Mohammad. Naushad says that to pay respect to his roots, he has also named the village road Lal Bahadur Dubey Marg. The board on the road is proof of this.
Invitation letter also sent to Prime Minister and Chief Minister
Naushad Ahmed Dubey said that through Vishal Bharat Sansthan, invitations for the banquet have been sent to many prominent persons including the Prime Minister and Chief Minister. They hope that the invited guests will come to the program and bless the bride and groom.
About three dozen people have used the surname of their ancestors
This is not the first time that a Muslim family has adopted the Hindu surname of its ancestors. Naushad says that about three dozen people write the surnames of their ancestors in front of their names. He believes that this is a way of giving recognition to one’s historical roots and also strengthens the sense of harmony, shared culture and unity in the village.
Today is the wedding, boycott doesn’t matter
Naushad’s nephew Khalid Dubey is getting married on December 13 in Asaur village of Azamgarh district. Khalid’s father Abushad will not be able to reach as he is in Qatar. Some people are boycotting us, but it doesn’t matter to us.
When he started adding the Dubey surname to his name, some relatives protested. Many even broke their relationships. Some people even refused to marry after knowing that the relationship had been finalized. I have adopted the surname of my ancestors, even though they have full faith in the religion of Islam.
