Mumbaikars! Step outside with caution, travel only if necessary: Police chief

Mumbai: In view of incessant rains and waterlogging in the city, Commissioner of Police (Greater Mumbai) issued an official statement and asked the city residents to avoid all unnecessary travel and practice caution when stepping out. He also asked people to call on helpline numbers: 100/112/103 in case of any emergency. The IMD has issued an ‘orange alert’ for Mumbai and has predicted heavy showers in the city.

Taking to social media platform X, the office of the Mumbai Police Commissioner tweeted, Dear Mumbaikars! Caution is advised as heavy rainfall continues under Orange Alert, incidents of water-logging and reduced visibility are being reported from multiple areas. Please avoid non-essential travel, plan your commute with care, and step out only if necessary. Our officials and staff are on high alert and ready to assist. In case of any emergency, please dial 100 / 112 / 103. Your safety always comes first.”

Mumbai Traffic Police shares updates

In addition to this, the Mumbai Traffic Police is sharing all latest traffic updates on its social media handles to aide the commuters. It said that due to waterlogging traffic was movement was slow in these areas: RC Marg monorail station opposite Mani hotel, Amar Mahal junction, Cheda Nagar Service road, Elphinstone Bridge (Bhoiwada), RTO Road, Pratiksha Nagar, Albert Junction – Palace Cinema – Bawla Compound (Byculla), J.J. Bridge to J.J. Bridge Junction (Paydhuni), Mahalaxmi Tempal Both Bound (Tardeo), and few other places.

The traffic police also asked the commuters to stay updated and plan their journey beforehand to avoid any inconvenience. It said in a tweet, “Due to heavy rains, water logging expect disruptions in road traffic and public transportation. Plan your travel accordingly, check for updates, and prioritize your safety. Stay safe, Traffic Control Branch Mumbai!”
