Mumbai rains: IMD issues orange alert, BMC warns against coastal travel

Mumbai: The city is set to witness heavy rainfall on Thursday, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its weather forecast. Mumbai is set to witness intense weather conditions and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also advised people against travelling to coastal areas as high tidal waves along with heavy rainfall are expected in coming days.

The IMD on Thursday issued an orange alert for several parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Palghar, and Thane and said that these places are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Meanwhile, the IMD issued a red alert for Raigad and forecast that it will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at many spots and extremely heavy rain at isolated places.

Mumbai weather forecast for tomorrow

As per the IMD forecast, Mumbai will witness moderate to heavy rainfall on Friday, The minimum temperature is likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature will settle around 28 degrees Celsius.

For Thursday, a yellow alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar. In view of heavy rains in Mumbai, the Mumbai Airport also issued an advisory and asked all the passengers to check their flight status with their respective airlines and plan their journey accordingly to beat traffic issues and reach the airport on time.
