Mumbai Police constable critically injured after falling off Lower Parel Flyover

A 38-year-old Mumbai Police constable, Ankit Shashikant Surve, was critically injured after being thrown off the Lower Parel flyover in Mumbai following a road accident on Tuesday evening, police officials said.

Surve, who is attached to the Bandra police station, was returning home after completing nakabandi duty. He had been deployed earlier in the day outside actor Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Bandra West as part of security arrangements.

Police sources said Surve left duty earlier than scheduled as his wife was unwell.

According to the police, the incident occurred at around 5 pm when Surve reached the Lower Parel flyover near Phoenix Mall.

“A mini tempo driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with Surve’s motorcycle,” a police source said.

Thrown 25–30 feet from flyover

Due to the impact, Surve was reportedly thrown nearly 25 to 30 feet off the .

Local residents immediately rushed to help and took him to KEM Hospital, where he was initially admitted. He was later shifted to Wockhardt Hospital for specialised treatment.

Multiple fractures, condition critical

A senior police officer confirmed that Surve sustained multiple fractures and remains in critical condition.

The NM Joshi Marg have registered an FIR in connection with the incident and launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
