Why Orange and Red Alert released?
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai on Monday. At the same time, a red alert has been declared for the coastal districts Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Kolhapur and Pune in Maharashtra. This means that the situation in these areas may be more serious.

Reports of accidents also came to the fore
BMC said that there were 6 short circuits, 19 trees falling and 2 wall collapse in Mumbai on Sunday. Luckily there were no casualties. However, on Saturday, two people were killed and several injured in a landslide in the parksite area of Vikhroli.
How much did it rain so far?
- From 8 am to 6 pm on Sunday, 23.81 mm in Mumbai city, 25.01 mm in the eastern suburb and 18.47 mm in western suburb received 18.47 mm rainfall.
- On an average of 97.88 mm in Mumbai city, 86.21 mm in the city and 83.10 mm in the western suburb was recorded in Mumbai city till 2 pm on Monday afternoon.
- On Saturday, many parts received more than 200 mm of rain, which drowned the lower areas.
The process of rain may continue in Bai and adjoining districts for the next 24 hours. The administration has appealed to the people to be cautious, avoid non-essential travel and stay in safe places.
