Mumbai: At least four people were killed and nine others injured after a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus met with a major accident near Bhandup railway station in Mumbai late on Monday night, officials said.
The incident occurred around 10:05 pm on Station Road in Bhandup West, a busy stretch with heavy pedestrian movement. According to preliminary information, the BEST bus was reversing when it struck several people standing or walking in the area.
Among the deceased were three women and one man, while the injured included one woman and eight men. Early reports had indicated that four to five pedestrians were run over during the incident.
