Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Kolkata Police have issued a traffic advisory to regulate movement of heavy and medium goods vehicles starting August 10, 2025. The new restrictions are necessary to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow during the ongoing construction of the six-lane elevated Kona Expressway.
Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Restricted Routes And Timings For Goods Vehicles
According to the order issued by Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Verma, heavy and medium goods vehicles will be restricted from using Vidyasagar Setu, its ramps, Circular Garden Reach (CGR) Road from Bascule Bridge towards East Garden Reach Road and other feeder roads connecting these major routes. These restrictions will be in place daily between 6 AM and 11 PM.
Kolkata Traffic Advisory: Exemptions For Essential Goods Vehicles
Vehicles carrying essential and perishable goods such as LPG cylinders, CNG, petroleum products, oil, lubricants, oxygen, vegetables, medicines, fruits, fish,and milk will be exempt from these restrictions and allowed to operate as usual.
Motorists and transport operators are advised to follow the guidelines closely to avoid penalties and ensure smooth travel during the Kona Expressway construction phase. Police will be monitoring compliance and managing traffic diversions as needed.
