Air India flight AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi has encountered turbulence during mid-air on Tuesday morning, which has led to multiple passengers and crew members injured with minor scars.
The flight landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and the injured passengers and crew members have been taken to Airport medical safety facility.
The Airbus A320 carrying around 134 passengers faced a brief turbulence in mid-air that caused a momentary change in the altitude. Medical teams were already deployed their on flight landed and those who needed treatment have been taken to airport medical facility.
Air India Flight Faces Turbulence Before Landing
According to Air India, flight AI2379 faced an turbulence on 4 August while coming from Phuket to Delhi. The airline has confirmed that the flight has landed safely and all the passengers and crew members deplaned without any serious injuries.
An Air India spokesperson said: “Air India confirms that flight AI2379, operating from Phuket to Delhi on 4 August, experienced a brief in-flight turbulence-related event during cruise, resulting in a momentary change in altitude. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi and all passengers and crew have safely disembarked. There have been no serious injuries reported as of now. A small number of passengers and crew members with minor injuries requiring medical assessment have been taken to a medical facility at the airport for precautionary examination and care by Air India’s airport team and medical personnel. The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain Air India’s highest priority. We are providing all necessary support to those affected and are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities as part of the investigation.”
Injured Passengers Taken for Medical Assessment
The flight arrived in Delhi at 11AM, where Air India had already arranged medical assistance for passengers and crew members. According to some reports, around 8 to 10 passengers have taken to Medanta Medical centre at the airport for the treatment. However, no serious injureies have been reported yet.
What Causes Turbulence During Flights?
The Turbulence in s very common practice in aviation sector and causes by the changes in airflow, weather systems, jet streams or atmospheric instability. Sometimes it results in sudden movements of flight but most of commercial planes are designed to handle these situations.
That’s the reason why Airplane crew always advises the passengers to fasten their seatbelts, even when the seat belt sign are switched off because unexpected turbulences remains part of flights.
