Multan Sultans vs Islamabad United, PSL 2025 Match 13: Who Said What
Shadab Khan, Islamabad United captain:
“Our team was good on paper but we have to show it on the ground. Whatever plans are given, everyone is performing. At the toss, I thought the pitch was dry and the dew would come on in the second innings. The bowlers pulled it back nicely in the last 5-6 overs and the credit has to go to them. There is good value for all-rounders in T20 cricket and we are happy to have such players in our squad.”
Andries Gous | Player of the Match:
“It is a big relief. I wasn’t sure when that big knock will come and happy that it came today, thanks to the team for keep backing me. It was a bit slow when it started but when dew came on, the ball started to skid. There was pressure in the beginning, I spoke to the coach and there was backing, that was a big relief. Yes it helped, allowed me to see how the wicket plays and go about my innings accordingly.”
Mohammad Rizwan, Multan Sultans captain:
“We were 15-20 short, the ball was gripping a touch and the second innings it was completely different. We felt 180-plus was a safe score. The way they executed in the death was good because of the experience, and we haven’t executed our plans well. There will always be pressure when you lose and hopefully we will improve going forward. The year we became champions, this is the same trend that happened, like losing first 3, winning the 4th and then losing the 5th. Hopefully we can turn things around.”

The match was as one-sided as it gets in this format. Islamabad never looked in trouble once their openers set the tone. Gous and Munro’s 81-run stand took the game away from Multan, and by the time Nawaz joined Gous, it was just a formality. The innings was laced with crisp boundaries and calculated aggression that rendered Multan’s bowling toothless.
The Multan crowd did their best to back the home side, but their batting frailty and lack of penetration with the ball left them disappointed once again. For Islamabad United, it’s another tick in the box and a growing sense of invincibility.
As the caravan moves forward, Multan Sultans will need to dig deep and find answers. For now, Islamabad United march on, eyeing a spot in the playoffs with supreme confidence.
