‘Mubarakaan Jatt Ji’: Virat Kohli congratulates Shikhar Dhawan on his wedding to Sophie Shine

New Delhi: Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan got married to his long-time girlfriend, Sophie Shine, in a private wedding ceremony in Delhi-NCR on Saturday, February 26. The couple had been dating for over a year, and was also spotted together for the first time during the Champions Trophy 2025 in February in Dubai.

After the ceremony, Dhawan posted pictures of his wedding on Instagram with a caption, ‘Mr. & Mrs Dhawan. Star India cricketer and Dhawan’s best friend, Virat Kohli, also congratulated him by commenting “Mubarkaan jatt ji” on Instagram.

Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal also posted Dhawan’s wedding on his Instagram, saying, “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai”. Many cricketers and celebrities have attended Dhawan’s marriage in Delhi-NCR.

Who’s Sophie Shine?

Earlier, the couple celebrated their haldi ceremony on 20 February, with Sophie sharing pictures from the ceremony on her Instagram account. According to Sophie’s LinkedIn profile, she is working as the second Vice President at an Irish product consultant in Northern Trust Corporation, a US-based financial services company.

Reports suggest that Sophie and Shikhar met in the UAE, where Sophie is currently based. She completed her earlier education at Castleroy College in Ireland and also holds a qualification in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology.

This is Shikhar Dhawan’s second marriage after the former cricketer legally parted ways with his former wife, Aesha Mukherjee, in October 2023, bringing an end to their 11-year relationship. Shikhar has one child with Aesha named Zoravar.

Despite all of this, the former cricketer was not granted permanent custody of his son, Zoravar. Instead, the Delhi court awarded him visitation rights and allowed video calls for a “reasonable duration” in both India and Australia. But, since then, Dhawan has said that he was blocked from all forms of online communication with Zoravar.
