MP Heavy Rain Warning: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the next 48 hours in many districts of Madhya Pradesh. Barwani and Burhanpur have red alerts, while Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Narmadapuram and Indore are Orange and Yellow Alerts. IMD has described strong winds, lightning and waterlogging in low -lying areas.
What is the reason for sudden change in weather?
Madhya Pradesh Weather Update: According to the Meteorological Department, the process of heavy rains in the state has increased due to cyclonic circulation and low pressure areas in the upper air. A new low pressure area has been formed near the banks of northern Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha in the Bay of Bengal. It will turn into depression to west-north-west by 19 August. A cyclonic circulation from Vidarbha is moving towards Gujarat, increasing rain activity in central India.
Which districts will be affected?
- Red Alert: Barwani, Burhanpur (Barwani Burhanpur Weather)-There may be more than 8 inches of rain till Monday morning.
- Orange and Yellow Alerts: The possibility of very heavy rainfall from Harda, Khandwa, Khargone, Narmadapuram, Indore divisions.

Possibility of rain in western MP including Bhopal
Lightning is expected to fall in Bhopal, Ujjain, Dewas and Sehore with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms. Cyclone circulation coming from Vidarbha is moving towards Gujarat, which will continue the process of rain in other districts of the state.
Is it necessary to take precautions?
IMD has advised people to avoid travel, stay indoors in a storm and not work in open fields. Unplug the power tools and do not stay under trees or electric poles. The speed of strong winds can reach 50 km/h in some areas.
What will be the next week’s weather?
Singrauli, Sidhi, Satna and Mandla districts are expected to have thunderstorms and lightning throughout the week. Farmers and general public have been warned to be vigilant. The monsoon trough extends into Central India, which is expected to continue the rain continuously.
