Many innovations and efforts are being made continuously for wildlife conservation in Madhya Pradesh too.

Horn of 2,479 rhino was burnt

It is noteworthy that the identity of this convention center cum museum is not only associated with wildlife protection works, but also with concrete steps taken for prevention of poaching and illegal trade of wildlife. On 22 September 2021, on the occasion of World Rhinocear Day, a formal burning of horns of 2,479 rhino was recovered from across the state. This step was a symbol of Assam’s deep commitment to wildlife conservation. Prior to the destruction of these horns, samples of select horns were carefully safely secured, so that they could be used in future scientific studies. In July 2025, the number of these samples increased to 2,573, which was sent to the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) for DNA profiles.

The origin of the horn seized here is detected

This scientific initiative in this center is also very important, because it is helping to find out the origin of the seized horns, confirm their authenticity and strengthen forensic investigation against wildlife crimes. This is also providing strong base (ethical basis) to carry out effective action with scientific approach and complete transparency in the protection of rhinoceros species.
