MP Heavy Rain Alert 2025: The effect of monsoon in Madhya Pradesh is steadily intensifying. On Monday, a yellow alert of heavy rains has been issued in 17 districts of the state. This includes Indore, Ujjain, Dewas, Sehore, Khargone, Khandwa, Harda, Burhanpur, Narmadapuram, Betul, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Seoni, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori and Anuppur. Rainfall has been going on in Bhopal since morning and in the next 24 hours, water is expected to fall from 2.5 to 4 inches in these districts.
Why is there a period of heavy rain?
According to Dr. Divya E. Surendran, Senior Scientist of Meteorological Department, a monsoon turf is passing through the state. Also, there was an activity of three cyclonic circulation (cyclone) on Sunday. This is the reason that there is continuous rain in many districts.

The rains in Madhya Pradesh have already been completed this year. So far, the state has received 37.1 inches of rain, which is more than the normal average of 37 inches. The last monsoon season received an average of 44 inches of rainfall. So far 55.4 inches of water has fallen in Guna district, which is a record in itself. Mandla received 54 inches, 51.5 inch in Sheopur, 51.1 inches in Ashoknagar and 50.5 inches in Raisen. At the same time, the districts of Indore and Ujjain divisions have received the lowest rainfall, only 21 inches of water fell in Shajapur.

The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for heavy rains in Indore and Ujjain divisions on 2 and 3 September.
