The government has taken strict steps to ensure that LPG consumers in the state do not face any problems. Minister Govind Singh Rajput said that gas will be given to domestic consumers on priority, while refill booking will be done only after 25 days and at present LPG will not be supplied to most of the commercial consumers.

Bhopal. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Govind Singh Rajput has said that the government is making continuous efforts to ensure that LPG consumers in the state do not face any kind of problem. He said that clear instructions have been given to all the district collectors that hoarding or black marketing of LPG cylinders should not be allowed under any circumstances. The Minister said that at present sufficient stock of petrol, diesel and domestic gas cylinders is available in the state and their supply is also continuing normally.

Instructions for priority supply to domestic LPG consumers

He said that due to the current global conditions there have been some disruptions in the import of LPG. In view of this, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India has directed all public sector oil marketing companies to supply and market LPG only to domestic consumers on priority basis.

Oil companies have also made some changes in the distribution system to provide regular gas to domestic consumers. Now booking of new refills is being accepted by consumers only after 25 days of the previous delivery. The objective of this system is to stop black marketing of gas cylinders and unnecessary chaos and to make gas equally available to all consumers.

Currently no supply to commercial consumers except hospitals and educational institutions.

The Minister said that keeping in mind the current circumstances, oil companies have decided that at present commercial LPG will not be supplied to commercial consumers other than hospitals and educational institutions. This includes hotels, malls, industrial units, factories and areas where LPG is used in large quantities. The objective of this decision is to ensure regular availability of gas to domestic consumers.

Regular review of gas cylinder availability at district level

The government has directed district collectors to hold regular meetings with food department officials, representatives of oil companies and LPG distributors in the district. The availability of domestic and commercial gas cylinders will be reviewed in these meetings. Along with this, meetings will also be held with big commercial consumers and they will be asked to make judicious use of the available stock. They will also be advised to use alternative fuel sources to meet their energy requirements.
