Development works worth Rs 19,810 crore were approved in the Madhya Pradesh cabinet meeting. In this, major support was given to irrigation projects, road construction, agricultural mechanization, medical colleges, women safety schemes and nutrition schemes.
Bhopal. A meeting of the Council of Ministers was held in the Ministry on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. In this meeting, a huge approval of about Rs 19,810 crore was given for public welfare and development works. The Cabinet approved many important proposals related to Public Works Department, Irrigation Projects, Women and Child Development, New Medical College and Agriculture Department.
Sagar Irrigation Project: 7200 hectares of land will benefit
The Council of Ministers gave administrative approval of Rs 286 crore 26 lakh for the construction of Midwasa Medium Irrigation Project in Sagar district. This project will make it possible to irrigate about 7200 hectares of land in 27 villages of Sagar tehsil, which will directly benefit the farmers.
Public Works Department: Rs 10,801 crore approved for roads and infrastructure
Rs 10,801 crore was sanctioned for various development works under the Public Works Department. These include:
- Rs 150 crore for development and monitoring of BOT roads
- Rs 765 crore to pay for BOT projects
- Rs 4,564 crore for annuity payment
- Rs 5,322 crore for external finance projects of MP Road Development Corporation (NDB)
Along with this, approval was also given to continue the tenure of the 16th Finance Commission from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.
Mid-day meal and nutrition schemes: Rs 3,553 crore approved
Rs 3,553 crore 35 lakh were sanctioned for the operation of other schemes including Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana (Mid-day Meal) under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department. These schemes will be run continuously from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2031.
Agricultural Mechanization Scheme (SMAM): Farming power will increase with Rs 2,250 crore
Under the Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), Rs 2,250 crore was approved to promote agricultural mechanization in the state. Under this scheme:
- Custom hiring centers will be set up
- Weed management will get a boost
- Farmers holding forest lease will get subsidy on agricultural equipment.
This will increase the use of machines in farming, reduce dependence on labor and save both the cost and time of farmers.
New medical colleges: Rs 1,674 crore approved for health facilities
Approval of Rs 1,674 crore was given to continue the scheme of setting up new medical colleges in the state with the help of the Government of India for the next 5 years. Under this, district hospitals will be linked to medical colleges, which will improve health services.
Bhopal gas tragedy relief: Rs 1,005 crore for health services
Approval of about Rs 1,005 crore was given to continue health services under the Relief and Rehabilitation Department for the people affected by the Bhopal gas tragedy till March 31, 2031.
Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao and women safety schemes: Rs 240 crore approved
Approval of Rs 240 crore 42 lakh was given for the operation of these schemes under the Women and Child Development Department:
- Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao Scheme
- One Stop Center Scheme
- women helpline 181
These schemes will be continued from 2026-27 to 2030-31.
8 new one stop centers: Women will get quick support
Approval has been given to open 8 new one stop centers in the state. These centers will be established at the following places:
- mahar
- Mauganj
- Pandhurna
- Dhar (Manawar, Pithampur)
- Indore (Lasudiya, Sanwar)
- Jhabua (Petlawad)
Through these centres, legal, medical and counseling assistance will be available to women at one place.
