The Commission has made a small but notable housekeeping move in , taking a limit that’s already been quietly enforced through the ECU software and giving it formal standing in the class regulations.
The 20,000rpm ceiling that’s long been coded into the control electronics will now be written directly into the rulebook, mirroring the same wording already used in the Moto3 regulations.
The change is effective immediately, though nothing about the actual limit itself is new – bikes have been capped at 20,000rpm at the ECU level all along. What’s changing is the transparency around it. Moving the number out of software and into the regulations themselves removes any ambiguity about where the ceiling sits and brings ‘s rulebook in line with how Moto3 already spells it out, closing a gap between what’s technically enforced and what’s actually written down in black and white.
