With the aim of making women self -reliant by the central government, the LIC Bima Sakhi scheme has so far given direct benefit to more than two lakh women across the country. According to the data presented in Parliament, under this scheme, women are not only earning every month, but they are also being trained in the direction of a permanent career.
Women are earning respect and money by becoming ‘insurance sakhi’
Under this special scheme of LIC, women are trained as insurance agents, so that they can provide insurance services in their area. The government said that a total of 2,05,896 women have been added to this scheme launched on 9 December 2024. Most of these women are earning an average of up to Rs 7,000 every month.
Giving information in Parliament, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that in the year 2024-25, a total of Rs 62.36 crore has been paid to insurance friends. At the same time, for the upcoming financial year 2025-26, LIC has set a budget of Rs 520 crore for this scheme, out of which an amount of Rs 115.13 crore has already been distributed by 14 July.
10th pass women can also become ‘insurance friend’
Insurance Sakhi scheme is especially made for women between 18 and 70 years of age. In this scheme, 10th pass women are given priority. Selected women are given in -depth training of three years in which they are given information about insurance products and services. During this training, he is also given honorarium fixed every month, Rs 7,000 for the first year, Rs 6,000 for the second year and the third year Rs 5,000 per month. In addition, the commission on selling the policy is also given to them.
Permanent job can be found after training
The goal of the Insurance Sakhi Yojana is not only to provide temporary employment, but women also take forward in the direction of long -term and permanent career. Under the scheme, women who have completed five years of training can apply for the post of Apprentice Development Officer i.e. ADO. Graduation is mandatory for this. Additional incentives are also given to women who perform better under the scheme. This scheme is not only becoming a means of strengthening the economic condition of women, but is also strengthening their participation in the workforce.
Plan will reach rural areas, ministry reached agreement
An agreement has been signed between the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and the Ministry of Rural Development to spread this scheme to the women of rural areas. The two institutions together have signed an MoU, so that the plan can be spread from village to village. The agreement was reached in Goa during a National Conference Anubhuti held from 8 to 10 July. With this participation, rural women are also expected to get a permanent and respectable income source, which can prove to be a big step for both rural economy and women empowerment.
