Moradabad man dies after drinking excessively in joy of wife’s return

Moradabad: A strange and sad incident has come to light from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, where a man died after consuming too much alcohol in joy. His wife had returned to him after 8 long years, and in happiness, he overdrank and passed away the same night.

The case is from Ramnagar Khaguwala village under Thakurdwara Kotwali area. According to the police, 28-year-old Rajkumar’s wife had left him and gone to her parental home 8 years ago after a disagreement. On Thursday, she unexpectedly returned to her in-laws’ house. Seeing her back, Rajkumar was overjoyed and went to the market to buy alcohol to celebrate.

He drank so much that his health suddenly worsened. His family rushed him to the Government Community Health Center, but he was declared dead. The police sent his body for post-mortem. Senior sub-inspector Vijendra Yadav confirmed that Rajkumar died due to excessive alcohol consumption, and the post-mortem report also supported this.

In another case from Sitapur district, a 25-year-old youth named Sarvesh, a resident of Madhiya Semri, died during treatment after allegedly being beaten up for refusing to drink alcohol.

Sarvesh’s father, Ram Prasad, told the police that on April 26, his son had gone for a walk when some people in the village, who were drinking alcohol on the roadside, forced him to drink. When Sarvesh refused, they got angry and started beating him with sticks and kicks. Sarvesh suffered serious injuries.

He was first taken to the local Community Health Center, but due to his worsening condition, doctors referred him to Lucknow for better treatment. Unfortunately, after nearly two months of treatment, Sarvesh succumbed to his injuries.
