Experts say that even though moong dal is not a direct source of B12, it helps in absorbing this vitamin. This dal is no less than a boon for those who have weak digestion or suffer from bloating, gas and acidity.

The combination of one spoon desi ghee in moong dal khichdi is best in winter. It keeps the body warm and also keeps the gut clean. By doing this, bloating also starts reducing.

Experts say that you can make moong dal soup in winter. Adding ginger, garlic and black pepper to it boosts immunity and provides protection from cough in winter. If you want, you can make moong dal cheela and stuff it with paneer. This is an all time favorite breakfast. You can make a salad of its sprouts and include vegetables and lemon in it. This combination improves both gut health and metabolism.
Dr. Geetika says that if you have winter cravings then you can also eat Moong Dal Halwa but only once or twice in a month. The portion size of halwa should be controlled and jaggery should be used instead of sugar. Although moong dal does not increase B12, it is a valuable food for winter nutrition, gut health and better digestion. Expert Geetika says that B12 deficiency can actually be compensated only by dairy products, eggs or meat. At most you can take supplements as prescribed by your doctor.
