New Delhi: Residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to an intense rainfall on Wednesday morning. The showers followed a short but heavy spell on Tuesday that had already led to waterlogging in several areas of the national capital. To add to the woes, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert, warning of more rain through the day.
Traffic chaos, roads blocked, key areas waterlogged
Wednesday’s downpour caused fresh traffic snarls and road flooding, hampering the morning commute. Visuals shared on social media showed rain lashing various parts of Delhi just as people were heading to work. Several parts of the NCR were similarly affected by the showers.

On Tuesday (July 22), waterlogged streets had brought traffic to a standstill in key areas including Delhi’s Press Enclave Road and both sides of Anuvrat Marg near the Qutub Minar metro station, with blockages lasting until midday.
Rainfall data shows uneven distribution
