Mokshada Ekadashi 2025: There are two Ekadashi fasts every month. Ekadashi has been dedicated to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the protector of the world. Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month is called Mokshada Ekadashi. On this day, Lord Shri Krishna gave the knowledge of Geeta to Arjun in Kurukshetra, hence this day is also celebrated as Geeta Jayanti. On this day, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world, is worshiped with rituals.

When is Mokshada Ekadashi? (When is Mokshada Ekadashi 2025)
According to the Vedic calendar, this year the Ekadashi tithi of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month will start on November 30 at 9.29 pm. This date will end the next day on 01 December at 07:01 am. In such a situation, according to Udayatithi, this year Mokshada Ekadashi will be celebrated on 01 December. Its fast will also be observed on this day.
What to eat during fast? (What to eat during Mokshada Ekadashi 2025 fast?)
Banana, apple, orange, grapes etc. can be eaten on the day of Mokshada Ekadashi. Milk, curd, cheese, buttermilk can be consumed. Things made from potato, sweet potato, colocasia, water chestnut flour can be consumed. Buckwheat flour, water chestnut flour, sago, Rajgira can be used. Tomato, carrot, gourd, cucumber etc. can be eaten. You can eat rock salt, black pepper, ginger, green chilli.
What not to eat during fasting? (What to eat during Mokshada Ekadashi 2025 fast?)
Rice, wheat, pulses and common salt should not be consumed. Garlic, onion, meat, alcohol and other Tamasic foods should be avoided. Spices like turmeric, asafoetida, mustard, fenugreek seeds etc. should not be used. Stale food or reheated food should not be eaten on the day of Ekadashi. One should not eat food twice in the same day.
Correct rules of Mokshada Ekadashi fast (Mokshada Ekadashi 2025 Vrat Niyam)
On the day of Ekadashi, wake up early in the morning and take bath. Take a resolution to fast by worshiping Lord Vishnu and Shri Krishna. Chant the mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay” 108 times. This day is also Geeta Jayanti, hence definitely recite Shrimadbhagvadgita. Stay awake at night and do bhajan-kirtan. Break the fast only after sunrise on Dwadashi Tithi. Before breaking the fast, feed food to a Brahmin or any needy person and donate it.
