Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara has hit theatres today (July 18), and it’s already creating waves on social media, with netizens praising debutant Ahaan’s strong performance in the film. However, many have been wondering why Ahaan and Aneet stayed away from the spotlight—no grand trailer launch, no interviews, no promotional events, and no city tours to promote the film. Now, director Mohit Suri has finally revealed the real reason behind this low-key approach, recalling the strategy used for Aashiqui 2.
Mohit shared that the idea was collectively conceived by Saiyaara’s producer, Akshaye Widhani and YRF’s Aditya Chopra, who suggested that keeping the actors away from the media was a deliberate tactic. Speaking to Just Too Filmy, Suri added, “Until the two actors don’t have anything behind them to talk about, the conversation will be filled with questions like ‘Who is the prankster on the set?’ or ‘How is it to work with Mohit Suri?’ It’s all redundant stuff, and I don’t think anyone has any interest in listening to all that.”

The filmmaker revealed that he had used this approach back in 2013 with Aashiqui 2, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, where he deliberately kept the newcomers away from the limelight. Recalling an incident, Mohit said that when they were filming in Goa, people recognised him, but had no idea about Aditya or Shraddha.
