As the countdown begins for the grand premiere of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 7, all eyes are not just on the contestants, but also on Mohanlal’s jaw-dropping remuneration for hosting the show.
Mohanlal’s Remuneration For Bigg Boss Malayalam
Mohanlal is reportedly charging ₹24 crore for this season – his biggest paycheck yet for the reality show. To put that into perspective, the superstar was paid around ₹12 crore when he first stepped into the Bigg Boss house back in Season 1, The Times of India reported, citing industry insiders.
Over the years, his fee reportedly climbed to ₹18 crore, and now, with Season 7, he seems to have hit a new high.
This makes the Malayalam legend one of the highest-paid hosts in Indian regional television, trailing just behind Bollywood’s Salman Khan, who is said to be charging anywhere between ₹120-150 crore for the upcoming season of Bigg Boss Hindi.
On the other hand, Tamil actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan reportedly earned around ₹130 crore for Bigg Boss Tamil 7. He was replaced by Vijay Sethupathi in the eighth season and he was paid Rs 60 crore, as per the reports.
However, Sethupathi’s paycheck is expected to see a hike this season following the success of the last season.
Coming back to Bigg Boss Malayalam, while money talk grabs attention, Season 7 has much more in store. The show promises a fiery new theme – rumoured to be ‘Hell & Heaven’ – with the tagline ‘7nte Pani’ (The Wrath of 7), and for the first time ever, the Bigg Boss house has been specially built in Chennai exclusively for the Malayalam edition. It’s a major sign of the show’s growing scale and cult following.
