India’s top pacer Mohammed Shami has been struggling with injuries since a very long time and every time he tries to make a comeback, he receives an injury setback.

This time a fresh new concern has come up about his possible injury after he remained in the dugout even though he bowled 11 overs in the North Zone’s second innings of the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2025.

The East Zone captain, Riyan Parag gave the reason behind Shami’s absence and said: “No, I think he rolled over on his toe and the other spike went over his toe, so that’s why he couldn’t bowl.”

Shami has been hoping to make a comeback in India’s international setup and feature in the Test format. He recently mentioned about his willingness to play all the formats and he is absolutely fit. Shami was last seen in Tests in 2023 when he made an appearance in the WTC Final against Australia. In ODIs, Shami last played the ODI World Cup 2023 after which he has been struggling with injuries constantly, which has made his return back to the Indian squad a little difficult.

Another major injury setback in Duleep Trophy was of Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan, who has been ruled out due to an injury, This has sidelined him till the late September. According to a report by Times of India, Sarfaraz faced a quadriceps injury when he smashed a century against Haryana in the Buchi Babu Tournament.
