India warned to increase tariffs

On Monday, Donald Trump made serious allegations against India. He had said that India is buying a lot of oil from Russia and then earning good profits by selling it in the open market. Trump warned that America can impose heavy tariffs on India. While sharing a post on his social media platform Truth, Trump wrote, “India is not just buying a large amount of Russian oil, but is also selling a large part of it for profit in the open market. They don’t mind how many people are being killed in Ukraine. That is why I am going to increase the tariffs on India.”

Trump’s warning was given a befitting reply

The Government of India has responded to Trump’s statement, saying that India makes its energy policy by looking at the interest of the country and the state of the world. Meaning, when and where India will buy oil, it decides according to its advantages and needs. Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said, “We decide our energy needs keeping the market availability and global situation in mind. We are not aware of any special allegations of Trump.”

Ajit Doval on Russia visit

India has been buying cheap crude oil from Russia for a long time. Although Western countries have imposed several restrictions on Russia, India has made it clear that it will take decisions in view of its energy needs. For this reason, tension has increased between India and America in oil and trade in recent times. Meanwhile, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval arrived in Russia on 5 August. His visit is taking place at a time when former US President Donald Trump has openly threatened India on buying oil from Russia. Therefore, this journey of Doval is considered strategically very important.
