Director Raja Karuppusamy has shared an emotional note of appreciation for actress Anishma Anilkumar following the strong response to their film Modha Rathri. In his Instagram post, the filmmaker recalled the intense emotions surrounding the film’s climax and revealed that he and Anishma were both in tears after filming the sequence.
Karuppusamy’s message focused on the actress’s commitment to the project and the personal support she extended to him and his team throughout the filmmaking process. He began his note by wondering whether gratitude or an apology would better express what he felt, saying that ordinary words could not fully capture her contribution.
Director recalls emotional climax shoot
Karuppusamy specifically remembered the filming of the climax, including Anishma’s performance in the final sequence. He highlighted her dance, scream and the emotional release following the climax as moments that carried a deeper meaning for the people involved in making the film.
According to the director, the experience became particularly emotional once the scene was completed. He recalled that both he and Anishma ended up crying and were unsure whether they should comfort each other.
The filmmaker said the sequence might appear to viewers simply as part of the story, but for the people who created it, the experience represented something much more personal after the effort that had gone into the film.
Karuppusamy praises Anishma’s dedication
The director also praised Anishma as an artist, making it clear that his appreciation was not simply because she played the female lead in Modha Rathri. He described her as one of the most dedicated performers he had worked with and expressed confidence about her future in Indian cinema.
Karuppusamy also thanked Jeeshma Jeechu for her affection and support before turning his attention again to Anishma. He referred to the actress as a “super star” and expressed his belief that the film industry would continue to recognise her work.
His comments came as Modha Rathri has gained momentum with audiences, giving the team an opportunity to reflect on the effort behind its production.
Actress receives praise for support off screen
Beyond Anishma’s performance, Karuppusamy highlighted the way she interacted with the cast and crew away from the camera. He said the actress consistently offered warmth and comfort to him, his team and others on the set.
The director also pointed out that Anishma had remained the same person he knew before the film achieved wider attention. According to his post, she continued to support him personally even at times when people close to him were unable to do so.
