Actress Mithila Palkar is gearing up for the release of her upcoming streaming series, “Super Subbu.” She emphasizes that her character strikes a remarkable balance between humor and genuine human emotions.
On Wednesday, the trailer for the series was unveiled, featuring Sundeep Kishan and Murali Sharma in significant roles. The story revolves around Subramanyam ‘Subbu’ Chillukuri Rao, who is posted in the fictional village of Makhipur, a place where no teacher wants to go.
Subbu arrives in the village determined to maintain his family’s honor and is ready to teach. However, he is assigned the most uncomfortable responsibility of all: teaching sex education.
Reflecting on her role, Mithila Palkar stated, “What attracted me most to ‘Super Subbu’ is how it beautifully presents humor alongside real human emotions. Beneath all the chaos, curiosity, and laughter lies a story about relationships, acceptance, and understanding one another better. The world created by director Mallik Ram is unique, vibrant, and full of energy. Each character brings something memorable to this journey.”
She added, “Being part of a story that is both entertaining and meaningful has been an exhilarating experience for me. Working with Netflix always feels like coming home. I was part of their early original show, ‘Little Things,’ and now joining their first Telugu original series, ‘Super Subbu,’ feels like a complete circle. I am excited for audiences worldwide to experience the charm of Makhipur.”
Actor Sundeep Kishan remarked, “‘Super Subbu’ addresses a topic that people often hesitate to discuss openly. However, it presents this subject with humor, warmth, and honesty. Subbu is a person who sets out to solve a problem but inadvertently gets caught up in five new issues. He constantly finds himself in difficult situations, whether it’s job troubles, relationship entanglements, trying to save face in front of his father, or upsetting the villagers. His most notable trait is his good intentions, even when circumstances spiral out of control.”
He continued, “Makhipur is filled with quirky yet interesting characters, and every misunderstanding adds new humor and chaos to the story. Viewers will be left wondering how Subbu will navigate each situation. Working with such a fantastic cast and being part of Netflix’s first Telugu original series has been a special experience for me. I eagerly await the moment when audiences meet Subbu and become part of his memorable journey.”
Written by Mallik Ram, Ramesh Elugati, and Shivani Dobal, the series is produced by Rajiv Chilaka and Bharat Lakshmipathi under the Chilaka Productions banner. “Super Subbu” presents a unique coming-of-age story filled with humor, emotions, and the familiar upheaval of small-town life. The series will stream on Netflix starting July 2.
