New Delhi: Mitchell Starc has confirmed his retirement from T20I internationals, choosing to focus on Australia’s Test commitments and the 2027 ODI World Cup. The 35-year-old leaves behind a strong T20I record with 65 appearances and a World Cup medal from 2021 but made it clear that the longer formats remain his priority.
The last game Starc featured in T20I was at the 2024 World Cup in the Caribbean. He made it clear that the decision was made with an eye on the heavy workload that lies ahead for Australia’s fast bowlers.
Starc explained, “I’ve loved every T20 for Australia, especially the 2021 World Cup, not just because we won but because of the incredible group and the fun we had.”
