New Delhi: In Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Shikha Gautam recently claimed of securing a prominent rank in the UPSC-2025 results. However, that claim has turned out to be false.
Both makes same ‘claim’
On March 6, the results of the UPSC-2025 were announced. After that, Shikha Gautam claimed of securing the 113th rank in the result. In a comedy of errors, another woman named Shikha from Rohtak also made the same claim.
Later, the Shikha who hails from Delhi emailed UPSC seeking clarification over the confusion. After that, the UPSC asked the Bulandshahr District Magistrate Shruti to probe into the matter. During the probe, the administration found that Shikha Gautam had made a false claim. She reportedly did not even clear the UPSC Main examination. Also, in her documents, her name is Shikha Rani.
Truth comes to fore
When Shikha informed her family of the ‘news’, they were elated as her grandfather reportedly broke down in happiness, and villagers celebrated her success. However, she admitted her mistake to the authority.
While speaking to news agency ANI, Bulandshahr’s Shikha said, “The one who has been selected is different, Shikha. As both our names are the same, and I also only checked the name in the PDF and did not check the roll number, that was my mistake.”
On the other hand, the Shikha who has actually secured the 113th rank, hails from Delhi and is currently posted as Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) in Rohtak district. She did her Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Economics from Delhi and had secured 7th rank in the Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam. She had also cracked the Haryana Civil Service exam.
