CUNCOLIM: Cuncolim Police have arrested a man in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a minor girl from Paroda, Quepem.
According to the complaint lodged by the minor victim’s aunt, whose identity has been withheld, the incident occurred on September 23, 2026, at around 3 pm at Paroda, Quepem.
The accused, identified as Joshua Silvira, a resident of Calangute, allegedly took the minor girl away from the lawful guardianship of her family.
Following the complaint, Cuncolim Police initiated an investigation and traced and rescued the minor girl from Calangute. She was subsequently lodged at Apna Ghar, Merces, for her care and protection.
Police arrested the accused in connection with the case. An FIR has been registered at Cuncolim Police Station vide Crime No. 52/2026 under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sahil Pagui of Cuncolim Police Station.
