New Delhi: The upcoming Yash Raj Films action thriller War 2 will feature a high-speed chase sequence with the MINI Countryman taking centre stage. Scheduled to release across India on 14 August 2025, the film pairs Bollywood heavyweights Hrithik Roshan and NTR in a story packed with intense action set pieces. For car enthusiasts, it’s a rare chance to see the MINI in a full-fledged movie role, performing precision stunts in one of the most anticipated Hindi films of the year.
Automakers have often tied up with film studios to showcase their models in big-screen action, but this collaboration puts the Countryman in a more prominent role. With the chase shot on a large scale and directed by Ayan Mukerji, it will likely show the MINI’s handling and agility in a way TV commercials rarely capture.
MINI in the spy universe
The MINI Countryman will be part of one of the film’s key chase sequences, integrated into the storyline of War 2, which is part of the YRF Spy Universe. In statements from the companies involved, the team hinted at precision driving, adrenaline-fuelled moments, and sequences designed to push the car’s capabilities to the limit.
The model chosen for filming is known for its compact SUV profile, combining a sporty stance with enough ground clearance to tackle rougher patches. The Countryman in India comes with petrol engine options and a refined automatic gearbox, offering a blend of city comfort and highway pace. While the exact specifications of the car used in War 2 weren’t disclosed, in India the model typically delivers between 136 to 192 hp, with a top speed above 220 kmph.
Vikram Pawah, BMW Group India’s President and CEO, described MINI as embodying spontaneity and style, and said this film partnership shows those qualities in action. YRF’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Manan Mehta, said the MINI added a distinctive edge to the film’s action scenes and matched the scale of the narrative. Both stressed that the car was chosen to elevate the on-screen storytelling, not just to appear in the background.
For enthusiasts, the interest here is in how the stunt coordinators handle the MINI’s low centre of gravity and sharp cornering abilities, traits that have earned it the “go-kart” nickname among fans. Watching it weave through traffic, pull tight turns, and accelerate out of corners could be one of the visual highlights of the film.
MINI in India
MINI has maintained a niche but loyal fan base in India, often appealing to buyers who want a premium badge with a playful edge. Featuring in a blockbuster like War 2 could boost its visibility with a wider audience, even if only as a conversation starter. Past examples from global cinema show that such appearances can sometimes influence brand perception, especially when tied to memorable action scenes.
