Miley Cyrus has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at how her songs evolved during the making of her 10th studio album, Bass Persuades, by sharing raw voice notes from her songwriting process.
The Grammy-winning singer took to Instagram to post snippets from the recordings, revealing how some ideas began as simple vocal mumbles while others were already developed into more complete musical concepts.
“Found some voice notes from my writing process for BP. Sometimes it’s just mumbles, sometimes a fully realized idea,” Miley wrote.
She said revisiting the recordings allowed her to hear how the songs developed, with some elements changing while others remained intact.
“Some things changed and some stayed the same but I love hearing the evolution of the songwriting. Wanted to share some of the findings with you!” she added.
Miley announced Bass Persuades earlier this month, describing the album as an exploration of music’s ability to evoke emotion and bring people together. The record was released on September 18 through Atlantic Records.
The album marks another phase in Miley’s career, which began with her childhood acting role in Hannah Montana before she established herself as a recording artist. Her early music releases included Meet Miley Cyrus and Breakout, while her 2009 hit “Party in the U.S.A.” became one of her most successful singles.
In 2013, she moved toward a more hip-hop-influenced pop sound with Bangerz, which featured “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball”, her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1.
She later explored psychedelic, country and rock influences through albums including Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, Younger Now and Plastic Hearts. Her latest album, Bass Persuades, continues her long-running experimentation across musical styles.
