New Delhi: Former England captain Michael Vaughan has revealed that he was near Bondi Beach during the shooting incident on December 14. Vaughan further added that he is now safe in his residential facility.
Two gunmen killed 12 people at Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14, police said. One gunman was shot by the police, and the second was arrested. The suspect is in critical condition, and a huge emergency response was underway at the location, with injured people loaded into ambulances.
Vaughan is currently in Australia for the five-match Ashes Test series. The third Test of the series will start on December 17 in Adelaide. The former England cricketer also thanked the emergency services for springing into action, reserving praise for a bystander, who tackled the shooter.

Meanwhile, 11 people were confirmed injured by the police in New Wales State. A dramatic footage which was aired on Australian television showed a person tackling and disarming one of the gunmen.

The shooting incident was reported in one of Australia’s biggest tourist destinations in Sydney. The gunmen opened fire near Bondi Beach, which resulted in people running in panic and trying to take shelter. The video footage from the area also showed bodies lying on the ground.
“We heard the shots. It was shocking; it felt like 10 minutes of just bang, bang, bang. It seemed like a powerful weapon,” a 25-year-old student from Chile told AFP.
Just a few minutes after the incident, New South Wales police provided an official update, saying that an operation is ongoing after a public place shooting by two men at Bondi Beach earlier today.
“Ten people have been confirmed dead, including a man believed to be one of the shooters. The second alleged shooter is in a critical condition. At this time, a further 11 people are reported to be injured, two of whom are police officers,” the NSW Police stated in a X post.
Just minutes after, the NSW police said that the death toll had risen to 12, which included one shooter.
