JSW MG Motor India is set to launch a new energy vehicle on August 28, 2026. While the carmaker is yet to announce the name and details of the upcoming model, it’s expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 sold in China. Interestingly, it will be brand’s first production model to be built on its ,supporting plug-in hybrid (PHEV), range-extender, strong hybrid and fully electric powertrains.
The MG Hector Hawk is expected to be offered with both plug-in hybrid and electric powertrain options in India. Since it will be based on the China-spec Wuling Starlight 560, it will be sharing platform, powertrain and components with its donor model.
Electric Powertrain
In China, the Starlight 560 EV is available with a 56.7kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor, generating output of 236bhp and 200Nm. It delivers a claimed CLTC-certified driving range of 500km on a single charge.
The Starlight 560 does 0 to 100kmph sprints in 13 seconds and has a top speed of 160kmph. It takes just 20 minutes to charge from 30% to 80% by using a DC fast charger. The EV also supports AC charging, with a full charge taking around 9.2 hours.
Plug-in Hybrid Powertrain
The Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) features a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 20.5kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a combined power output of 197bhp and 230Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrid SUV promises an electric-only range of 100km and a combined range of up to 1,100km.

Competition
