Violence erupts in Mexico after drug lord’s death. Meanwhile, US tech company Versal booked all available flights from Guadalajara to the US to save one of its employees. Because of this the employee and his wife managed to escape safely.
After the death of Mexico’s notorious drug lord and leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes alias ‘El Mencho’, the country is burning in the fire of violence. Due to gang war, many highways have been closed and flights have also been affected. Drug mafia operatives have created ruckus on the streets across the country and set many vehicles on fire. Because of this, the situation in Mexico is very tense and there is an atmosphere of chaos at many major airports of the country.
Amidst this turmoil, an American tech company took such a step to safely evacuate its employee from Mexico, which everyone is praising. Cloud platform company ‘Vercel’ booked a seat on every available flight from Guadalajara to the US to ensure the safe return of one of its staff members.
What did the employee say in praise of the company…
The employee named Andrew Barba later told the story of his company’s generosity through a post on the social media platform ‘X’. Barba, who worked as a software engineer at the company, said that he and his wife were at the Guadalajara airport when the violence escalated. As tension increased, he took refuge in a bathroom. The internet connection was also not working properly, many flights had been canceled and they had no idea when they would be able to leave.
Meanwhile, the team of Versal Company in America immediately came into action. They decided to get their employee out safely at any cost. He bought tickets for all the flights to America from the airport in the hope that at least one flight would take off. His strategy was ultimately successful. Barba and his wife managed to board a flight, which took off and delivered them safely to Dallas, Texas. Barba, who has been working in this San Francisco company for about three years, publicly thanked his company for saving him in this difficult time.
Barba wrote, “10 hours earlier, when I was in Guadalajara, there was chaos at the airport and I had to hide in the bathroom. But Versal’s leadership did not stop until my wife and I were safe. The Internet was not working, so they booked every flight to the US on our behalf, hoping one would take off. Eventually one did. We had just landed in Dallas. Versal came up with a Plan B and Also worked on Plan C, we are very grateful to him.”
Seeing this work of the company, users said – this is called leadership
His post has gone viral and internet users are not only surprised but also praising him for this step taken by the company for an employee. One user commented, “This is called leadership. When the situation worsens, you need action and backup plans, not statements. Glad you are safe.”
Another user wrote, “You are lucky that you had money and people to help you. Many people are not so lucky. And those locals who can’t even get out of there. Hope you are grateful for your privilege.”
A third user wrote, “This is a strange turn of events. It’s crazy how a trip can turn into a story of survival so quickly. Still, glad you got out safely.”
