New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz will not come with differentiated electric cars and combustion-engine models when it comes to design from here on. During the 2027 S-Class facelift’s unveiling, at the sidelines, Mathias Geisen, member of the board of management at Mercedes-Benz AG and head of sales and customer experience division, noted that both the EV and ICE models would come with the same design.
The Mercedes earlier was differentiated in the ICE and EV products like the S-Class and the EQS, even in terms of design, unlike BMW’s 7-Series and i7. Geisen confessed that the customers now want the typical Mercedes style, no matter what powertrain they go for.
Gorden Wagener, Mercedes’ chief design officer, also said that the S-Class segment is still dominated by ICE, suggesting that the brand might go towards more classic design elements. Geisen noted that Mercedes did overestimate the EV conversion, but it was still impossible to predict.
The S-Class coincided with 140 years of Mercedes-Benz being in existence. The S-Class has been existing for 70 years of those years itself and has always been a trendsetter that later went on to become standard. In its newest iteration, the Mercedes-Benz retains the bold styling and the amazing blend of technology.
