Mercedes could bring back Black Series to their lineup

New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz retired the Black Series name in 2022 following the AMG GT sports car being dropped from the lineup. The German brand has been mum about bringing back the nameplate for their very favoured high-performance until now. Reports have suggested that Black Series might see a comeback.

During a recent media interaction with British publication Evo, Mercedes-AMG CEO Michael Schiebe confirmed that the Black Series name was going to return afterall. Schiebe believes that the Black Series will certainly be back in future due to its long success. However, he noted the brand needed to make something that was exciting.

In general, the Black Series was defined by their powerful engines, aggressive aerodynamics and amazing performance. That is expected to carry even with next generation.

The revived Black Series will exist alongside Mercedes-AMG’s newer performance sub-brands, Mythos. Introduced in 2022, Mythos focuses on ultra-limited AMG models and one-offs over hardcore performance variants. It is unclear when the Black Series will return. With the brand recommitting to bringing high-performance engines, particularly new V8s, a Black Series model could be here faster.

For fans of powerful combustion engines and amazing aerodynamics, Mercedes’ consideration of bringing back the Black Series is good news, of course. As the brand backtracks on the four-cylinder C63, the timing is pretty perfect for the Black Series coming back in bold, high-performance avatar.
