A major accident occurred due to a massive explosion in a coal mine located in Tashkhai area of East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. So far, at least 18 workers have been confirmed dead in this accident, while many others are feared to be trapped inside the mine. The explosion was so strong that the workers working inside did not even get a chance to get out. After the accident, there was panic in the entire area and the local administration, police and relief teams immediately started the rescue operation. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the relatives of the dead and missing laborers started reaching the spot, while the administration ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident.
