The victim says that her husband not only beat her, but also uploaded her obscene pictures on the internet and even wrote “Rate” along with her mobile number. Since then the woman is continuously receiving obscene calls and messages.

Harassment started some time after marriage

The woman was married to a railway employee living in Lalkurti police station area of ​​Meerut about three years ago. The victim alleges that shortly after marriage, her husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law started harassing her regarding dowry and other matters. There was daily insult, abuse and fighting inside the house. The woman says that she was so mentally pressurized that she broke down several times.

“Kept locked in a room for eight days, burned with hot tongs.”

In the complaint, the woman has mentioned a very painful incident. According to her, about a year ago her husband kept her locked in the room for eight days. During this the body was burnt with hot tongs. After the intervention of relatives, a compromise was reached and she again went to her in-laws’ house, but the situation did not change. Eventually she returned to her maternal home Kankarkheda.

Obscene pictures uploaded on social media

The woman alleges that her husband’s actions increased after coming to her parents’ house. He uploaded her personal photos on social media. Dirty and indecent comments were written along with the pictures. The most serious allegation is that the accused made the woman’s mobile number public along with the photographs and wrote “Rate” along with it. After this, the victim started receiving calls and messages from unknown people. This case has become not only of domestic violence but also of cyber crime.

Police started investigation

On Monday, the victim reached the SSP office of Meerut and gave a written complaint. Considering the seriousness of the matter, SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan has instructed CO Daurala for a detailed investigation. Police have started investigation under sections related to IT Act and harassment. Officials say that digital evidence will be examined and strict action will be taken if found guilty.

Crime on digital platforms is a growing concern

This case shows how personal disputes are now reaching the digital world. Sharing someone’s photo or number without permission is a legal offense. Experts say that if this happens to anyone, one should immediately take a screenshot and complain to the police and contact the cyber cell.
