Meena Kumari Mimicry Artist Aasha Singh Jaiswal Dies On August 22; Son Pens Heartbreaking Message

Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s life was defined by her work, resilience and an unusual artistic talent that made her stand apart. The veteran actor, social worker and mimicry artist passed away on August 22 at around 7:30 pm, as confirmed by her son Akkash Bharadwaj. Sharing the heartbreaking news, Akkash described his mother as a “Karmath Loh-Mahila” or Iron Lady and asked people to remember not just her, but the work she dedicated her life to. Jaiswal was also described as India’s first female mimicry artist, with a notable ability to recreate the voice of legendary actor Meena Kumari. Her final rites were scheduled for August 23 at 10 am at Pawan Hans, Vile Parle West, Mumbai, according to reports.

Akkash Bharadwaj remembers his mother as an ‘Iron Lady’

Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s son, Akkash Bharadwaj, announced his mother Aasha Singh Jaiswal’s death through an emotional social media post, asking people to remember the life she built through her work. He described his mother as a “Karmath Loh-Mahila” (Iron Lady) and requested everyone to pray for her soul.

Sharing his thoughts, Akkash wrote, “Wah ek karmath Loh-Mahila (Iron Lady) thi. Aap sabhi unki aatma ki sadgati evam shanti ke liye prarthna karen.” He also asked people to seek out her work online and keep her memory alive. He added, “Aur unke kaam ko social media par zarur dekhen aur yaad rakhen taaki unki aatma jahan bhi hon prasanchitt ho ki aap unka kaam ab bhi dekh aur yaad kar rahen hain (sic).”

In another part of the tribute, Akkash spoke about how completely his mother devoted herself to her work. He wrote, “Kyunki unke jeevan me unka karm hee sabkuch tha…”, explaining that her actions and work were everything in her life.

He continued, “Mrityu ka dukh nahin aanand Bramhaanand yehi unka sandesh…. (sic)”, conveying that his mother’s message was not to view death only through grief but to see it as a form of divine bliss.
