10 devotees died after their boat capsized in Yamuna river near KC Ghat in Vrindavan, Mathura. 15 people were rescued safely. Expressing condolences, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to speed up the relief work.
Lucknow. A tragic accident occurred when a boat capsized in Yamuna river in Mathura district. The incident took place near KC Ghat in Vrindavan area, where a boat loaded with devotees collided with a pontoon bridge and overturned in the river. Many people lost their lives and many were injured in this accident.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep grief
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over this accident. He described it as a very sad and heart-wrenching incident. In his message on the social media platform ‘X’, he expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed to Lord Shri Ram for the peace of the departed souls. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Quick instructions given for relief and rescue operations
The Chief Minister has instructed the concerned officials to immediately reach the spot and speed up the relief and rescue operations. He also said that the injured should be provided immediate and proper medical care. Besides, instructions have also been given to give compensation to the families of the deceased as per rules.
Cause of accident: Boat capsized after hitting pontoon bridge
According to the information, the accident occurred when the boat filled with devotees collided with the pontoon bridge and became unbalanced and overturned in the Yamuna river. During this time, about 25 devotees traveling in the boat fell into the river.
10 devotees died, many were saved
A total of 25 people are reported to have fallen into the river in this accident, out of which 15 people were taken out safely. Unfortunately, 10 devotees died due to drowning. It is being told that most of the devotees had come from Punjab.
Administration and divers team conducted rescue operation
As soon as information about the incident was received, a team of police, administration and divers reached the spot. Rescue operations were conducted on war footing and efforts were made to evacuate people safely. At present the administration is fully alert and relief and rescue work is going on continuously.
Questions raised on security and vigilance
After this accident, questions have started being raised regarding boat operation and security arrangements at the ghats. To prevent such incidents, the need for better security arrangements and monitoring is being felt in future.
