Maruti Suzuki Dzire remains best-seller in India in FY2026

New Delhi: Maruti Dzire remains India’s bestselling car in FY2026 with a total sales of 2.3 lakh units. Though SUVs make up 66 per cent of the overall market in the fiscal year, the Dzire’s top spot in the sales chart shows continued demand for saloons.

Partho Banerjee, senior executive officer, marketing and sales at Maruti Suzuki, “Our sedan segment share was 45.8 per cent in FY2017; today, it stands at 57.2 per cent.” Banerjee added that despite the domination from SUVs and gaining volumes, ‘a saloon emerging as the number one model’ was a big ahcievement from the brand.

Banerjee noted that the brand didn’t have a big saloon portfolio, but they were still very much in the segment, concluding that the brand would continue to maintain presence across all segments and body styles, whilst also following a technologically agnostic style. Apart from Dzire, which is sold through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena outlets, the brand also sells the Ciaz through the Nexa outlet.

With the Ciaz, though, it has been seen that many owners are either upgrading to SUVs and MPVs or going towards the Dzire.

In FY26, Maruti Suzuki reported their highest-ever total sales of about 24.23 lakh units, with domestic sales reading above 18.61 lakh units and exports sitting at 4.48 lakh units. Banerjee felt that the passenger car market is set to grow by about 5 per cent in FY27.
