Maruti Suzuki has crossed 60,000 bookings for the new Brezza in roughly six weeks. This gives the facelifted SUV a strong start in the Indian market. The company says the Brezza was attracting close to 2,000 bookings a day during this period. The Brezza was launched on July 24 with a major change under the bonnet: a new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine. Maruti has retained the 1.5-litre petrol and S-CNG versions as well. Along with the new engine, the SUV gets revised styling, a six-speed gearbox, more cabin features and extra safety equipment. The starting price is Rs 7.39 lakh, ex-showroom.
Brezza Crosses 60,000 Bookings
The booking tally reached nearly 60,000 in about 35 to 37 days, according to Maruti Suzuki Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Partho Banerjee. That puts the average at well over 1,600 bookings a day although the company has indicated that the current run rate has been closer to 2,000.
The number refers to bookings and not cars delivered to customers. It also cannot be directly compared with monthly retail sales. sold around 17,000 units of the Brezza last month, according to the company. The strong booking response comes shortly after the facelift went on sale. Maruti has made some fairly substantial changes this time, particularly with the addition of the turbo-petrol motor.

The new 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet engine makes roughly 109 hp and 170 Nm. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission and Maruti Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid technology. The company claims a mileage figure of 20.47 km/l for this version.
The 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine continues too. It produces 102 hp and 139 Nm and is available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. The automatic version also gets steering-mounted paddle shifters.
Then there is the S-CNG variant. It uses an underbody-mounted CNG tank, leaving the boot floor free and gets a six-speed manual gearbox. In CNG mode, it produces 87 hp and 121.5 Nm with a claimed efficiency of 26.9 km/kg.

The facelift is not limited to the engine range. Maruti Suzuki has changed the front-end styling with a revised grille, bull bar and skid plate while the side cladding and alloy wheels have also been redesigned.
Inside, the can be had with ventilated front seats, a cooled wireless charger and the SmartPlay Pro X infotainment system. A 360-degree camera, TPMS and connected-car functions are also available.
Six airbags, ESP, Hill Hold Assist and front and rear parking sensors are part of the safety package. Higher variants add features such as Blind View Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert along with Exit Warning Support.
With bookings now beyond the 60,000 mark, the focus will shift to how the Brezza performs through the upcoming festive period.
