The wedding procession came, seven rounds of rituals took place, the mangalsutra was tied… but as soon as the bride reached her in-laws’ house, everything changed. Within minutes of entering the house, she came out and announced that she would not live in this house. What happened after the marriage in Deoria?
This strange case is from Bhaluani Nagar Panchayat area of Deoria. A family organized a wedding with great pomp on 25 November. The marriage was completed as per the customs and on the morning of 26 November the bride was brought to her in-laws’ house. As soon as she reached her in-laws’ house, she entered the house… but after some time she suddenly came out of the house. Her face was stern, her voice angry, she clearly said that she would not stay here and demanded to call her family immediately. The family members first explained to him lovingly. The groom also came, but the bride’s decision did not change.

The family arrived, the Panchayat sat… but the bride did not agree.
After some time the bride’s family also arrived. He also tried to convince his daughter, but to no avail. Seeing the situation worsening, a Panchayat was convened in the village. The conversation continued for about 5 hours, but the bride remained adamant on one thing, that she would not live in this house.

The bride alleged that she was not treated well at her in-laws’ house. She said that she would neither live in her in-laws’ house nor have any relationship with her husband. According to the decision of the Panchayat, the marriage transaction was reversed by both the parties and the relationship was ended there itself. After this the bride went back to her maternal home with her family.
