After the 30-year-old had to sit out the second ODI because of the same issue, there was an assessment of his fitness, which took place on Friday, April 4, but he was deemed to have sufficiently recovered to play in the last match of the summer in New Zealand.
Notably, the hamstring injury was picked up by Mark Chapman during the first ODI of the three-match series in the field after scoring a hundred for New Zealand, which allowed them to register a 73-run win over Pakistan. At the McLean Park in Napier, the left-handed middle order batter smashed 132 runs, his career best returns in ODI format, in just 111 balls with 13 fours and six maximums.
